the summer heat. Check back here later or on the Yahoo
Group for our fall schedule of rides!
2-Day Trail Clinic, May 14-15
with Trainer Eddie Rodriguez
Join us for a customized Trail Clinic with Eddie
Rodriguez, a highly respected local trainer, on Sat-Sun, May
14-15, from 10AM to 3PM at the Lone Oak Retreat in Gainesville.
This will be a great way to brush up on your & your horse's trail
skills, whether or not you'll be participating in the Cross
Timbers TTC. The cost is $125/day ($250 for the weekend) or $35/day to audit. We'll be
riding in a large covered arena, so no weather worries. See
the flyer on the Yahoo Group website
(http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CTETA/) under "Files/Cross Timbers
TTC". Contact Eddie directly at 940-243-0000 or 940-206-6841
for more info.
Cross Timbers Challenge TTC Ride, Saturday, June 18, 2011
LBJ Grasslands, Valley View Campground,
north of Decatur
For the first time ever, we're sponsoring a
Texas Trail Challenge! TTC rides are competitive trail rides
under the NCTHA umbrella. This will be an 8-mile ride with
lots of natural obstacles on which you & your horse will be
judged, based on your experience level. You may arrive on Friday,
join us for dinner Fri night ($8), & camp overnight (no
hookups, but generators OK), or show up at 7:30AM Sat for 8:30AM ride-out. We'll provide lunch
on Sat, as well as completion gifts, ribbons, & prizes. Visit the TTC website
for info at www.TexasTrailChallenge.com. Ride Mgr: Alanna Sommer
(940-367-2080); Secretary: Leslie Olsson (972-977-7018)
- Click here for contact info.
- You must bring your horse’s current negative Coggins papers to
participate in any event with your
horse.
- Please RSVP with the designated person listed.
- All rides are subject to being postponed, moved, cancelled, or otherwise changed.
Please call or email before the ride to be sure it's still on.
We've
branched out to include other trails in the area and increased the
length (time and distance) of the rides. The speed is geared to
the participants, sometimes offering slower & faster groups. We've tried
to accommodate many different kinds of horses and riders... Quarter horses,
gaited horses, endurance riders, etc. We have become a very diverse group
and we like it that way!
We usually have a rainy season in the spring. Many of our trails are in low-lying areas.
Our alternate place to ride will generally be the Grasslands, because
the terrain and soil allow for quick drainage. It really is important
to call before you load them up! Bring your Coggins papers and "call before
you haul".
